Intl Saturdays 4: A fishy breakfast, anyone?

Just when i had gorged on a hearty Continental breakfast at 7:30am and set out to explore Bangkok's numerous Wat's (temples) i came across lots of carts selling fish. This early in the morning people buying and eating fish, seemed a bit odd to me, considering fish is something i only fancy eating at lunch or dinner. Nevertheless, it looked delicious and thankfully most of the fishes being sold had some sort of curry paste smeared over them, thereby adding some flavour to them.

#Anonymous

The now-famous hacktivist group Anonymous had organised a protest rally around June 9 in the four metro cities to protest against the wierd censorship rules that the Government was (and still is) forcing down our throats. Guy Fawkes' mask has become the default symbol for Anonymous.
Here is an interesting piece on how Anonymous hackers target and attack their victims.

Intl Saturdays 3: Where shall i drop you?

While exploring Bangkok, i was a bit surprised to find so many bikers wearing similar kinda clothing and waiting. On enquiring with a local, i came to know that these are the motorbike taxis, a good way to get around Bangkok during rush hours or if you are the kind of explorer who likes the wind in your hair while you are commuting. They are comparitively cheaper than the regular taxis there and are known to really cut down your commute time.

Indian Art Studio

I have always been fascinated with this studio, which is very very different from many other photo studios i have seen in my lifetime. It's location, Kalbadevi, is a place which is bustling with activity throughout the day and then suddenly when you peep into the door, you notice black and white vintage photographs covering the interiors, it just transports you to an altogether different era. (Sadly on the day i made this photograph, the studio was shut).

Last night i was reading a wonderful article in Mint Lounge about this history of this place and how film is still respected at this photography studio. You should read the article  if you are big on nostalgia.

Intl Saturdays 1: The Erawan Shrine

Starting today, i will kickstart a series which i have been contemplating since a long time. To this date, this blog has only been about local Indian content. But i have been fortunate to have travelled to other countries and have a whole stock of photographs that i have never uploaded or used anywhere. Due to that attitude, i haven't even looked at those photographs properly after the initial rush of seeing those countries when i am back home.

International Saturdays, will not only give me a platform to showcase these countries through my eyes, but at the same time help me re-see all those photographs and help me in improving on my photography.

So expect a photograph from outside India, every Saturday, on this blog:)

This was the very first photograph i had captured outside India. In Bangkok, a few blocks from my hotel, there was this very famous temple called the Erawan Shrine, located within the premises of the Erawan Hotel. The temple has the golden Brahma statue and it was probably the first Brahma temple i had been to. Just like any other Indian temple, this one was buzzing with activity - flower offering, burning incense sticks, devotees joining their hands in a Namaste and praying. I felt i was in India.
The view from the Chitlom Skytrain station premise is even better as you get a view from a higher vantage point.
